“Location, Location, Location!” – September 9, 16, 30
Pastor Stadler’s Bible Class in the Chapel (Rooms 7 & 8, downstairs)
In the world of real estate, there is an axiom that the three most important qualities in a desirable property are location, location, location. For sure, location is also important when reading Bible stories. Where something happens can give us important insights into what Jesus is emphasizing and the connections He is making to other events in biblical history.
For three Sundays in September, Pastor Stadler will use photos taken from this summer’s tour to Israel and maps to identify crucial information that can be gleaned from the location itself where Jesus is preaching or doing a miracle. For example, when Jesus says “the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church,” (Matthew 16) where did He say that? And why might that location help us recognize an important truth He is teaching?
Why does the raising of the widow’s son in Nain make the town’s people compare Jesus to a prophet and remember another miracle like His? We will study a couple familiar stories each Sunday and locate where they happened and why that location is so important to noticing added insights and connections we might otherwise miss.
