Ephesians – “Paul’s Rhapsody in Christ”
The NIV and the ESV are both good English translations. The ESV says we were by nature “children of wrath” and the NIV says we were by nature “objects of wrath.” What difference does that make? How does this sound in our liturgy? How does the Gospel say, “Yes, but…” to the Law? Paul says God made us alive when we were dead. Why does Paul use the past tense? What is grace? Can anything be more “by grace” than the resurrection of the dead? Your comments and questions are encouraged. All are welcome.
