Leviticus – The LORD Speaks to Us Today
Leviticus chapter 4 is about the sin offerings. These are not voluntary offerings, but they are provided by the LORD as a way to make atonement for a person who has sinned unintentionally. Whether it be the high priest or the whole community of Israel, whether it be a leader of a clan or an ordinary Israelite layperson, offerings are prescribed to make atonement for sin. Of course, we see Jesus in these offerings. What is the difference between an unintentional sin and sinning “with a high hand”? How does the sin committed by a leader cause problems for the whole community? Do we have this problem today? Your comments and questions are encouraged. All are welcome.
