Leviticus – The LORD Speaks to Us Today
Now that we have considered the voluntary offerings and the mandatory offerings, the next section of Leviticus deals with the consumption of the holy food. The priest on duty each day is responsible to remove the ashes from the bronze altar and to stoke the fire so that it never goes out. Why does the priest wear his holy vestments while removing the ashes from the altar? Why does he change his clothes before carrying the ashes outside the camp? Every morning and every evening the priest offers a burnt offering and a grain offering together. How do these daily offerings differ from the voluntary offerings we have already considered? What do these offerings teach us about Jesus? Your comments and questions are encouraged. All are welcome.
