The divine speeches in the book of Leviticus regularly begin, “The LORD spoke to Moses, saying…” In the middle of chapter 10, after the deaths of Aaron’s two sons, “The LORD spoke to Aaron…” This highly significant divine speech is the charter for the Aaronic priesthood. They are to distinguish what is holy from what is common, and what is clean from what is unclean, and they are to teach these distinctions to the people.
